Aadhaar eSign API for EdTech and College Admissions
Admissions run on deadlines, and every admitted student brings a pile of undertakings, declarations and fee documents, often needing a parent's signature too. The SignYu API lets your admissions portal or LMS send them for Aadhaar OTP eSign and mark the student's file complete when the webhook fires. The problem with paper signing
- Students and parents in different cities must print, sign and courier forms before reporting day.
- Admission offices manually tick off which undertakings have arrived for each student.
- Minors cannot be bound by contract, so the parent or guardian signature is the one that matters.
- Upskilling and income share programs need a binding fee or financing agreement before the batch starts.

Anti ragging undertaking
Student and parent undertakings collected at admission. Many institutions also require the online undertaking on the national anti ragging portal; eSign covers your institution's copy.
Gap year or self-declaration
Simple declarations can be eSigned. If your institution insists on a notarised affidavit, eSign alone will not satisfy that.
Fee, refund and hostel undertakings
The student or parent acknowledges fee terms, refund rules and hostel conduct rules.
Course enrolment or income share agreement
For EdTech programs with deferred fees. Signed by an adult learner, or by a parent where the learner is a minor.
Internship agreement
For institutes that place students in internships as part of the program.
How the integration works

Offer accepted
When a student pays the seat fee, your portal merges the undertakings into one admission PDF.

Create and add signers
POST /api/v1/documents with the PDF, then POST /api/v1/documents/{id}/signers with the parent first and the student second if the student is an adult; for a minor, the parent or guardian signs.

Send from the portal
POST /api/v1/documents/{id}/send and show each signUrl on the applicant dashboard next to the pending task.

Mark the file complete
Use the document.completed webhook to tick the admission checklist and download the signed PDF for the student record.
Legal validity
Aadhaar eSign through SignYu is issued via eMudhra and is valid under Section 3A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. The First Schedule of the IT Act excludes some documents from electronic signing: negotiable instruments other than cheques (such as promissory notes and bills of exchange), powers of attorney, trusts, wills and other testamentary dispositions, and any contract for sale or conveyance of immovable property or any interest in such property. Admission undertakings, declarations, fee agreements and enrolment contracts can be eSigned. A contract with a minor is void under the Indian Contract Act, so agreements involving students under 18 should be signed by a parent or guardian. Affidavits that must be sworn before a notary or oath commissioner still need that step; Aadhaar eSign records who signed, it does not administer an oath.

Frequently asked questions
Can a minor sign with Aadhaar eSign?
A minor can hold an Aadhaar, but a contract with a minor is void under Indian law. Have the parent or guardian sign agreements and undertakings for students under 18.
Is an eSigned anti ragging undertaking accepted?
Your institution decides what it accepts for its own records. Many also require the online undertaking on the national anti ragging portal, which is separate from the copy you collect.
Can we collect signatures from parents who do not use email?
Every signer needs an email address in the API, but you do not have to rely on it. The send response returns a signUrl for each signer that you can share by SMS or WhatsApp from your own system.
What does an admission season cost?
